Most entities have some debt instruments. While accounting for certain debt issuances may be relatively straight forward, accounting for those with unique features such as conversion rights can be quite complex. In this course, we'll review the basic accounting and disclosure model under ASC 470 related to debt. Then, the course will explore the accounting implications of debt instruments with complex feature such as embedded derivatives and conversion features. Lastly, the course will review the accounting guidance related to debt modifications, extinguishments, and troubled debt restructurings.
