Dashboard reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) in real time is an unmet goal for many organizations. Participants in this session will review sample dashboards, learn about key terminology for describing dashboards, and identify techniques for effectively communicating KPIs to all stakeholders. Participants in this session will also learn how to develop strategies to accumulate data, create summary reports, and present and distribute data on Excel or Web-based dashboards.

Objectives

Upon completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify at least two tools which can be used to create a dashboard report
  • Define key terms associated with dashboards, including key performance indicator and role specific reporting
  • Discuss various presentation strategies to enhance their dashboard reports, including charts, tables, and graphs and using conditional formatting to identify exceptions
  • Describe at a high level what a Web query and an ODBC query are designed to do
  • Apply conditional formatting in Microsoft Excel to tables and charts
  • Display data from multiple sheets using Excel's Camera tool
  • Publish an Excel sheet in a variety of formats, including as a PDF and as a Web page
